The Wausau Area
Located midway between Minneapolis and Milwaukee, 185 miles from each, we’re in Central Wisconsin, right off the I-51. There are lots of reasons travelers stay with us, including weekend getaways, sports meets, outdoor recreation at Granite Peak, visiting friends or relatives, the nearby medical facilities, and for business meetings. Whatever the reason for your visit, our staff extend a friendly greeting and a welcome to those traveling with pets. You’ll enjoy a convenient location, a free Bright Side Breakfast®, an indoor pool and whirlpool, free parking, and free Internet access. Arrive anytime; our front desk is open 24 hours.
Wausau is known locally as the best place to play in the snow. The readers of Wisconsin Trails magazine named Wausau the best town in Wisconsin for outdoor activities. Rib Mountain State Park is only 2 miles from our front door, with 15 miles of trails for hiking, biking and kayaking in summer months. In winter, Granite Peak Ski Area offers 74 downhill runs, cross country skiing, tubing, and snowmobiling. At the summit there’s an observation tower so bring your camera for the spectacular views from the state’s fourth highest peak. There’s great birding, waterskiing, horseback riding, pick-your-own berries farms, golf, and more, so just choose the season that suits you.
